LuxOnions open the Summer Jazz Festival in Bedagarten 2026
With cheerful Dixieland music, this year's live music event series starts in the garden of the Bedahaus.
The LuxOnions have become a fixed presence in Bitburg. LuxOnions is a Luxembourgish jazz band that features musicians from several European countries: England, Sweden, Germany, and a German musician living in Luxembourg is also part of the group.
The band plays European Dixieland jazz, which excited people in Europe after World War II, especially in the 50s and 60s.
In England, this music became known as “traditional jazz,” which influenced young bands on the continent through English jazz musicians like Ken Colyer, Chris Barber, Monty Sunshine, Humphrey Lyttleton, Mr Acker Bilk, and many others. The cult piece of this era was “Ice Cream,” and it still is today. No Dixieland concert goes without this piece, which is repeatedly requested by the audience.
The “Onions” play in the classic lineup, creating the typical Onions sound.
The repertoire of the LuxOnions also includes many pieces that originate from the motherland of jazz music, which have become classics and are indispensable in jazz.
The Summer Jazz Festival in Bedagarten is a community event organized by the Jazz Initiative Eifel, the cultural community, and the Dr. Hans Simon Foundation.
The LuxOnions will perform on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, starting at 7 PM in Bedagarten.
In case of bad weather, the performance will take place in the festive hall of the Bedahaus.
