We start at 09:00 a.m. at the market square in Speicher and make our way to Ulmen. There we would like to offer 2 hikes:

the small and the large Ulmener Acht or a combination of both.

We would like to start with the Great Ulmen Eight.

You start in the middle of Ulmen. After a short time, you leave the historic town behind you and immerse yourself in the natural surroundings of Ulmen. The trail first leads you through a wooded area to the idyllic Eifel village of Meiserich. You are then greeted by the pristine valley of the Üssbach. You will pass two former mills: the Maismühle mill and the Auderather Mühle mill are located directly on the trail. The secluded surroundings of the Nollenbach between the two mills will captivate you with their tranquillity and unspoilt nature.

Difficulty easy, distance 14.7km, duration 3:45 h, ascent and descent 153 hm.

After the lunch break, we add the small Ulmener Acht.

The pristine landscape of the Volcanic Eifel, deep forests, green stream valleys and the Jungferweiher nature reserve await you on the Kleine Acht - a section of the Ulmener Acht.

The short version of the HeimatSpur Ulmener Acht always runs close to the town of Ulmen. After just over half of the route, the Jungferweiher comes into view - the most beautiful natural treasure in the area alongside the Ulmener Maar. You should bring some time with you to observe the diverse flora and fauna around the Jungferweiher. As a stopover for many migratory birds, you can observe numerous bird species that are rarely seen here. A number of footbridges around the pond invite you to gaze out over the calm water and give your soul space.

Difficulty easy, distance 6.2 km, duration 1:30 h, ascent and descent 93 m

If you only want to walk the first half of the trail, you are welcome to visit the Ulmener Stollen afterwards and wait in the café for the hikers on the whole tour.

The plan is to take a break at around 14:00 at the parish church of St. Matthias on the Ulmener Maar. From here, the hike on the small Ulmener Acht starts at around 2:30 pm
