Sutter & Wangen with the program: "Do you believe in spring?"

Philipp Sutter is a trained jazz pianist, Simon Wangen is a classically trained cellist. Their different musical roots merge in their program "Do you believe in spring?" into a vibrant mix of neoclassicism, new jazz, and Cinéma Nordique.

The two musicians from Cologne believe that in times of uncertainty, crises, and environmental destruction, it is certainly possible to pose a question mark. They believe it is never too late to start something new and test one's own limits! The works alternate between dark, wild, and tender moments, always focusing on the dialogue of the two well-harmonizing instruments.

The subtle use of electronic effects continually opens new perspectives and bridges to contemporary sound aesthetics. Piano and cello – this instrumentation has been established for centuries, but new facets can always emerge.

“Do you believe in spring?” begins tumultuously and agitated, oscillating between romantic – sad – beautiful moments and leading from a rather dark beginning to the last and titular piece in C major, which leaves the listeners with a glimmer of hope.
