Prüm Valley Trail
Phillippsweiler
The Prüm Valley Trail (“Prümtalweg”) leads through the romantic valley of the small river Prüm. The deep valley that the Prüm has carved for itself into the shale rock over millions of years, and the wide array of bends, breaches, valley widenings and river terraces that it has created are really impressive. A particularly beautiful example of this is the Ritscheberg hill, the spur of which contains the remains of a pre-history ring wall. The slopes of the Prüm valley contain a range of different woodland landscapes. The 300-year-old Napoleon oak takes its name from Napoleon Bonaparte, who is said to have travelled through the Prüm valley in 1812 and stopped to rest here. However, the route has plenty of other delightful views to offer.
