The circular walks not only take you through impressive landscapes such as the Meckel "Hero Tour" on the first day, but also through the most beautiful villages in the Southern Eifel: Meckel has been awarded a silver medal in the "Our village has a future" competition, and Meckel even won gold in the state competition. Traditions, building culture and way of life can be experienced on a walk through the villages with their over 1000 years of history, past old churches, traditional farms, historic village fountains and beautifully designed squares.
In Metterich, the "Mettericher Wegekreuze" (Metterich wayside crosses ) tour allows you to immerse yourself in this very vividly with the help of 19 information boards along the signposted village tour. Regional delicacies as souvenirs or for a picnic can be purchased daily in the local village store. There are also culinary refreshment stops on every tour - whether in traditional country inns or on the lakeside terrace.
The latter is located in Biersdorf am See after the Bitburger LandGang "Im Kannenbachtal" and offers a refreshing end to a beautiful panoramic tour with views of the Eifel landscape and the Bitburger reservoir. If you want to end the day here by the lake, you can explore the scenic Prüm valley by pedalo or kayak. There is a lovely playground for children at the adjacent renaturalized Kannenbach. The short hiking tours therefore offer plenty of variety and always something surprising, such as a warrior chapel in the middle of the forest - in memory of a downed fighter plane.
