As early as 2000 years ago, a small settlement was established on the Roman South-North Military Road (Lyon-Metz-Trier-Cologne), which subsequently developed into a center of craftsmanship.
The town of Bitburg had to endure many hardships as a result of the turmoil of war. The town was hit particularly hard on Christmas Eve 1944, when Bitburg was considered a "dead town" after a heavy bombing raid.
