Ingredients for 4 people:
Mashed potatoes:
1 kg potatoes
¼ liter hot milk
Butter
Salt
Pepper
Nutmeg
approx. 500 g sauerkraut
Mettwurst sausages
Alternatively:
Diced bacon and 2 onions.
Peel the potatoes, cut into pieces and cook in boiling salted water. Mash the potatoes and add the hot milk. Add a knob of butter to taste and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Fold the sauerkraut into the mash. Cut the cooked sausages into pieces and mix into the mixture. Alternative: Instead of the sausages, cut the bacon and onions into pieces and fry in oil. Then fold the bacon and onions into the sauerkraut purée.
Juicy ham or smoked pork loin also go well with the capesti table.
