A Blossoming Diversity: The Orchard Meadows of the Bitburg Region

Orchard meadows give the cultural landscape of the Bitburg region its distinctive character. They structure and enliven the landscape and offer visitors a rich sensory experience. They also provide an important habitat for numerous animal and plant species. This biodiversity stems from the combination of extensively managed grasslands and open woodlands. Both open-country dwellers and more forest-loving species with varying moisture and temperature requirements come together here and make use of the diverse mosaic of habitats.
