Pestflämmchenweg Dudeldorf

An old Dudeldorf legend recalls fateful times in Dudeldorf and waves of epidemics from around 1550 to about 1640, when the plague claimed the lives of many people in the town. Wherever the plague raged, a small blue flame was seen.

According to the legend, a brave and courageous citizen of Dudeldorf is said to have pursued the little blue flame and sealed it into a crack in the town wall. This is said to have banished the plague.

The route of the “Pestflämmchen” from Dudeldorf to “Kallen” is marked as a loop trail and can now be a personal experience for anyone interested.
