The "Ehrenfriedhof" in Bitburg is a commemorative cemetery for soldiers who died in both World Wars. The cemetery attracted world-wide attention in 1985 causing a great deal of controversy from the Jewish communities as well as the Veterans of WWII. The President of United States, Ronald Reagan and West German chancellor Helmut Kohl were to visit Kolmeshoehe to lay a wreath on a tombstone.
Located in front of the brewery and next to the restaurant, Simonbraeu, is the Bitburger Beerfountain. The fountain, which was built in 1937 by the Mayener sculptor, Professor Burger, originally stood on the Marktplatz, the town square. After WW II, it was erected to its present location.
The Mariensäule was built in 1886 in honour of the Mother of God. An internal spiral staircase leads to a viewing platform. The seven stations of the „Kreuzweg“ also end at the Mariensäule.
The listed building is not only being used as living quarters but also as a place to offer high-quality cultural venues. Theatre, concerts and exhibits take place inside and outside the castle.
