Musical Stories from Afar
Jennifer Yu, piano | Seohyn Kim, flute | David Stromberg, cello
Han-Wen Jennifer Yu completed her piano studies at Tunghai University (Taiwan), the New England Conservatory in Massachusetts, and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Leipzig. The pianist is a prize winner at numerous national and international competitions, including First Prize at the 2014 Vienna International Piano Competition and First Prize at the 2014 Clara Schumann Duo Competition in Leipzig. She performs in Europe and around the world.
Seohyen Kim successfully completed her flute studies at the Paris Conservatory of Music. At the age of 20, she won second prize at the Carl Nielsen Competition (Denmark, 2022) and also received, among other honors, a special prize at the International Kobe Competition (Japan, 2017). At age 18, she became principal flutist of the Cologne Gürzenich Orchestra for the 2020–2021 season, and in January 2022, she became principal flutist of the Zurich Philharmonic. She collaborates regularly with the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic.
David Stromberg completed his cello studies at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater and at the Schloss Edsberg Music Institute in Stockholm. He is constantly seeking new listening experiences—whether with the modern cello, the baroque cello, or the cello piccolo. He is fascinated by both early music and contemporary music; he explores new forms of expression through improvisation, arranges well-known masterpieces to give them a fresh perspective, and researches forgotten instruments.
The concert is presented in collaboration with the Konz Music Festival.
