Sophia Oster Quartet

The young pianist, singer, and composer Sophia Oster is undoubtedly one of the most promising newcomers on the German jazz scene and has already earned a well-deserved place in the jazz world. She recorded her debut album, “Jubilation,” in 2021, followed by the EP “All Smiles,” on which she is featured alongside drummer Jorge Rossy and New York saxophonist Bill McHenry, among others. Her latest album, “Praise,” was released in the fall of 2025. She is exceptionally versatile and in high demand as a musician.

In addition to her own compositions—which are difficult to confine to a single genre and instead reflect her diverse roots in jazz, classical, and gospel—the musician draws inspiration not only from the music of Brazilian artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, and Djavan, but also by Wayne Shorter, Joni Mitchell, Gershwin, and Ellington, among others.

Her bandmates are the American-German bassist Paul Imm, saxophonist Konstantin Herleinsberger, and Brazilian drummer Rafael Müller; she regularly performs with them in Germany and beyond.

The concert is presented in collaboration with Jazz-Initiative Eifel e.V.
