Altfrid M. Sicking Quintet
Monday, March 8, 2027, 7 p.m.
The Altfrid M. Sicking Quintet brings world-class jazz to Haus Beda with its Bitburg debut. Band leader Altfrid Sicking is one of the most sought-after vibraphonists in the German jazz scene and one of the top musicians who often play in the background as sidemen for well-known stars. He has been a vibraphonist in the Götz Alsmann Band for over 20 years. In 2020, he founded his own band with which he recorded his first CD "I AM" in the same year. In Bitburg, he will present his own compositions specifically written for this formation to the audience. Smooth jazz ballads and energetic up-tempo numbers alternate with dynamic Latin pieces, clear melodic lines with expressive solos. The five band members are among the most experienced and established jazz musicians in the republic. In addition to the band member who is also a professor at the Music Academy in Münster, there is Christian Kappe on trumpet, who has traveled the world with the bands Jasper van´t Hof and Trilok Gurtu; Sebastian Altekamp on piano (among others, a university lecturer in Enschede and Detmold); Ingo Senst, who played as one of the best double bass players with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and drummer Christian Schoenefeldt, who has played with almost every (world) star and works as a lecturer.
The concert is held in cooperation with the Jazz Initiative Eifel e.V.
