Zarah Leander, megastar and pop legend of the UFA era, was the highest-paid artist in film history, her songs were sold millions of times, and the film industry earned enormous sums from her. Like all artists of her time, she was caught up in the turmoil of World War II and returned to Sweden in 1942. The melodies of Leander traveled around the world. Even today, they are passed down from generation to generation. This evening is a tribute to the singer Zarah Leander. She herself said in an interview: “Here are my songs! If you forget my films, I don’t care!”
