The Napoleon Garden in Bedhard near Bitburg - Lecture at the District Museum

The Napoleon Garden in Bedhard near Bitburg – Imperial Cult and Reforestation is the topic of the next lecture at the Kreismuseum Bitburg-Prüm on April 23 at 6:00 PM. Today, it is practically forgotten, but still largely preserved, this memorial grove has stood there for more than 200 years.

The city of Bitburg once had it established as a green monument for the emperor when all Bitburg residents were French. It is a testament to the firm integration of our region into French territory at that time – alongside other sites in the former French forest department.

Matthias Paulke M.A., curator at the Office for Church Monument Preservation of the Diocese of Trier, will describe the circumstances leading to the establishment of the Napoleon Gardens and highlight the prototypes, the depiction, and the symbolism of the sites.

Start: 6:00 PM.
Location: Kreismuseum Bitburg-Prüm, Trierer Straße 15,
Admission: 5.00 EUR at the box office (students and pupils 1 Euro)
