Discover the traces of the Romans who founded the town of Bitburg 2000 years ago at 11 stations.
Go with your children on the Roman course in Bitburg. A riddle to the stations awaits you and leads the children through the Roman times, a great educational family excursion. With the right solution word a small gift awaits you at the Tourist Information Bitburger Land.

There are two versions of the riddle sheet: up to 12 years and 12 to 99 years.

Rittersdorf Castle

The nearly 700 year-old water castle is located three kilometers north of Bitburg in Rittersdorf. It houses in the Gothic Knights' Hall, the registrar's office (branch) of the District Administration of the Bitburg region.

Kalkofen

Lime was already burnt by the Romans 2000 years ago. For the Eifel farmers, lime burning was an important and necessary secondary income in the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.

Bergfried

Only the five-storey donjon of Kyllburg Castle, which was built in 1239, remains today.

Spangdahlem entombment group of Christ

In the chapel there are three sculpture groups: the Entombment group from 1643, the Lamentation, or "Holy Grave" group, and the Resurrection group created in 1750.

Mariensäule

The Mariensäule was built in 1886 in honour of the Mother of God. An internal spiral staircase leads to a viewing platform. The seven stations of the „Kreuzweg“ also end at the Mariensäule.

Mariengrotte Albach

East of Bitburg, about 3 km away, lies the Albachtal in an idyllic limestone gorge. Stairs of natural stone (caution: danger of slipping) lead to the enchanted place of the Mariengrotte. Moss, ferns and clover line the path to the left and right. After a short time, the view of a waterfall and the Mariengrotte opens up.
